Box washing systems for the industry
Box washing systems, often also referred to as box washing machines, are used in many industrial production companies and also in artisan food production companies to clean boxes or containers of sizes E1 to E3 according to European standards. Companies that use box washing systems do not only include production plants with strict hygiene requirements according to HACCP guidelines or IFS certification, such as in the food industry or catering industry. Also for complex industry branches where boxes are often used for transport and logistics, such as the automotive industry, the avoidance of residual dirt particles on functional components is an important criterion to prevent later malfunctions.
Box or container washing systems from Mohn are also available in special versions that can clean both plastic pallets and containers in combination. We offer many models in the Ecoline and Highline versions and also box washing systems with or without a pre-wash zone, depending on the intended use. In the pre-wash zone, the boxes, containers or pallets are rinsed to remove or soften coarse impurities to enable more efficient and thus also faster cleaning in the main wash zone as follow-up operation.
The washing systems for containers/boxes and pallets of the Highline series are all of the Hygienic Design and can therefore be cleaned quickly and easily with lowest media consumption rates. Due to their space-saving design and easy-to-operate elements, box washers of the Ecoline series are predominantly applied in food processing businesses, such as butchers' shops, bakeries, etc., due to their low throughput capacities.
Some box washing systems are specially designed to handle boxes of standard sizes E1 to E3, the so-called Euronorm containers. For the additional washing of plastic containers of other dimensions and plastic pallets, some of our container washing systems are also suitable, which also our industrial washing systems belong to.
Ecoline box washing systems
Our Ecoline box washing products are compact, cost-effective box washing systems equipped with both a main washing zone and a rinsing one. The two models are designed for 180 boxes or 300 boxes per hour and available in standard or special bakery versions (not designed for cleaning baking trays).
Highline washing systems - without pre-wash zone
Depending on the model, our Highline box washing systems without pre-wash zone are designed for containers (Euronorm containers), especially for bakeries or as an industrial washing machine also for cleaning containers and pallets with a wider throughfeed dimension.
Highline washing systems - with pre-wash zone
The Highline stainless-steel container washing systems with pre-wash zone are deliverable in 5 versions. Container or box washing systems with upstream pre-wash zone allow for a higher throughput capacity of up to 1200 units per hour.

Foodstuff industry

Box washing systems are characterized by a completely welded housing made of stainless steel and are equipped with both a main washing zone and a rinsing one while passing through the cleaning process. Models featuring an additional pre-wash zone are particularly suitable for medium to heavily soiled boxes. For example, in the meat processing industry, where boxes contaminated with blood should definitely be pre-rinsed cold to prevent protein coagulation by physical heating (at temperatures above 40 °C). In the feeding area, the boxes are transported into the washing system by a conveyor belt, which ensures optimum spacing between the boxes or containers and thus guarantees the best cleaning properties.
In the main wash zone, the heated water-detergent mixture is injected through stainless steel nozzles with large openings. In the subsequent rinse zone, the boxes are cleaned of detergent residues with heated fresh water. Both the cleaning liquids used and the fresh water are collected and returned to the circuit for best efficiency. The big-size industrial washing systems with high throughput capacity additionally enable the washing of containers and pallets avoiding a separate pallet cleaning system to be installed.

Industrial washing machine in the meat industry
A state-of-the-art 3-tank washing system with a length of 26 meters was put into operation at the family business Bahlmann Kalbfleisch, Germany in August 2022. This innovative industrial washing system enables Euronorm containers to be cleaned in a continuous process and offers integrated functions for label removal and drying.
Pass-through washing system in the baking industry
For a manufacturer from the baking industry, Mohn GmbH has implemented a pass-through washing system, cleaning both transport boxes and baking trays. The basis of the installation is a container washing system type DLWA 250 Highline that with its tunnel dimensions is by default aligned as “Baking version” for the use in bakeries.
