Changing area furnishment
Changing area furnishment for all company sizes
What is meant by changing area furnishment?
In many companies, employees are required to put on the appropriate or prescribed work clothing before starting work. As a rule, a separate changing room, often just called a changing room, is available for this purpose. Such a changing room contains all the necessary equipment for black/white separation, i.e. the separation of street clothes (white) into the working clothes prescribed by the company (black).
This results in the need for a separate locker per worker, changing benches or other seating to make changing easier by providing seating, and various workwear issue or storage facilities in the form of cabinets of different types. Instead of lockers, cloth cabinets lockers can also be a useful substitute to store parts of the working clothes that can be newly used on a daily basis. Changing area furnishment is overall a subcategory of social area equipment, as a locker room is legally a social area (like a break room) and not a working area.
The need for changing area facilities exists especially in production plants and manufacturing facilities where hygienic standards play a role in addition to possible soiling of clothing. As a specialist for equipment in the food industry and Hygiene technology , our changing room furnishings are also optimised for the workplace guideline for changing rooms in the food industry. This includes both the hygiene regulations in changing rooms and the Changing Room Workplace Ordinance with its specific requirements for changing area facilities. Since particularly high standards generally prevail in the food industry, our products from the changing room furnishings category are of course also suitable for other types of operation – from industrial kitchens to bakeries to workplaces without special hygiene requirements – depending on the activities of the employees.

FIELDS OF APPLICATION FOR CHANGING AREA FACILITIES
PLANNING CHANGING AREAS - WHAT NEEDS TO BE CONSIDERED?
Planning and implementation of changing areas - for every industry
Changing areas or dressing rooms must meet certain requirements depending on the type and size of the business. These are laid down in the workplace guidelines on changing rooms or in a corresponding workplace ordinance. Part of these workplace guidelines or ordinances are usually also hygiene regulations. Without wanting to go into a specific case, changing rooms in hygienically sensitive operations such as in the foodstuff industry are an integral part of a comprehensive hygiene concept. With appropriate planning, these rooms can, for example, be connected directly to a hygiene station.
Locking systems for clothes cabinets
In companies without sensitive hygiene regulations, on the other hand, requirements apply that make the social changing room a pleasant place to change and also a place to stay. Above all, cleanliness and order as well as the safety of personal belongings are important. Therefore, we offer various options for securely locking the lockers. These include rotary bolt locks, turning locks with combination locks, cylinder locks with or without a locking system as well as chip solutions (on- & offline systems).
The connection to sanitary rooms and sufficient movement space should also be taken into account in advance during planning. A separation by gender for men and women is indispensable in most cases. This also applies to the separation of toilets and washrooms. With our wide range of changing area facilities, we help you to implement the requirements of workplace guidelines or workplace ordinances on changing rooms perfectly and precisely.

CHANGING AREA FURNISHMENT FROM MOHN
Mohn GmbH has been the specialist for hygiene technology and also factory equipment with the best hygiene properties for many years. The central starting point for us is also the Workplace Provision on Changing Rooms (ASR), which regulates all the important aspects of equipment and condition, black and white facilities, lighting and the provision of changing areas. These legal requirements are incorporated into the development, planning and design of our products, as are the special requirements of our customers from a wide range of industrial sectors.
Therefore, our products in the area of changing area facilities are suitable for all commercial requirements in which, in addition to hygienic aspects, the points of material quality and durability also play a role.
German workplace guideline (ASR 34/1-5) - Dimensioning and division of changing rooms for clothes cabinet with a bench
Changing rooms must be provided by the employer if the activity requires the wearing of special working clothes. The black and white area is mandatory for all employees who are exposed to infectious, toxic, harmful, corrosive, irritating or highly odorous substances or who are exposed to heavy pollution. There, the legislator requires separate storage for working clothes (black) and street clothes (white). If the storage facility is spatially separated, it is expedient to connect the two parts of the black and white facility by washrooms (see § 36 German Workplace Ordinance).

When dimensioning and dividing changing rooms, appropriate traffic routes, i.e. areas intended for pedestrian or operational vehicle traffic, must also be provided in accordance with the workplace guideline. This includes corridors and walkways in particular. The minimum width of traffic routes is derived from the widths of escape routes of the workplace guideline (these are based on the number of people in the catchment area).
