Washing system for foodstuffs
Washing system for foodstuffs
Industrial washing system for hams type SCHWA 200 Highline
Single-tank ham washer: cleans 200 pieces per hour
- Machine housing completely double-walled, sound and heat insulated, manufactured in one piece and completely welded, low energy consumption
- Feed zone with drive: length 1000 mm, passage width: 400 mm
- Discharge zone: length 300 mm with stop switch for BigBox, conveying height 960 mm
- Nozzle arms with stainless steel nozzles can be removed and cleaned without tools (forced positioning of nozzle arms)
- Travelling washing nozzles on the hold-down device constantly maintain the defined working distance to the ham
- Nozzle selection according to cleaning objective: ex works with large-calibre 4 mm nozzles (30° spray angle) for focussed jet impulse/impact energy with firmly adhering residues;
- Passage height of 210 mm for the respective food, e.g. ham, other heights optionally possible
- Main wash zone with powerful 4 kW stainless steel centrifugal pump with 1200 l/min circulation and 2 bar wash pressure
- Rinse zone with fresh water, consumption approx. 200-400 l/h, fresh water inlet temperature 45°C
- External box filter with funnel overflow and extra large filter surface
- Electric tank heating: 4x 10 kW (adjustable up to max. 60°C); optionally with steam directly or via heat exchanger
- Vapour bonnets at the inlet and outlet with DN 200 extraction connection for effective collection and removal of steam/vapours.

Description
Application & performance
Designed for cleaning the outside of hams in the meat industry. Continuous transport on a robust stainless steel conveyor belt (throughput width 400 mm). Standard throughput height up to 210 mm (other heights on request). Line capacity approx. 200 hams/hour
Process control & cleaning effect
- Upper washing nozzles travelling on the hold-down device - they maintain the defined working distance to the product; a rough presetting is sufficient.
- Nozzle configuration according to cleaning target: ex works 4 mm nozzles with 30° spray angle for focussed impact energy (intensive spot cleaning); additional 60° nozzles enclosed for greater surface coverage with reduced spot intensity. Combination/conversion depending on the desired cleaning effect.
- Wash/rinse zone with fresh water rinse: 600 l tank, EDUR stainless steel centrifugal pump 4 kW, 1,200 l/min at 2 bar; electric heating 4 × 10 kW, adjustable up to 60 °C; final fresh water rinse (approx. 200-400 l/h, inlet temperature 45 °C).
System design (zone lengths 1,000 / 2,700 / 300 mm; total length 4,000 mm)
- Feed zone (1,000 mm): driven; covered with 300 mm cover plate (can be removed without tools); bracket for knife basket on the right. Vapour bonnet 400 mm, suction connection DN 200 (internal Ø 203 mm), 600 mm free at the top, system height here 1 700 mm, connection piece OC approx. 1 800 mm.
- Wash/rinse module (2,700 mm): double-walled maintenance door; external box filter with funnel overflow, front hand hole and large filter surface.
- Outlet (300 mm): Stop switch for Big Box; belt only runs when Big Box (large container) is in position; conveyor height +960 mm; table end open. Drive monitoring via preset DANFOSS-FU and switch-off rocker with adjustable torque monitoring (protection in case of e.g. cord entanglement in the belt). Vapour bonnet 300 mm, suction connection DN 200.
Hygiene, safety & operability
- Completely double-walled, sound- and heat-insulated housing - energy-efficient, low condensation, quiet operation.
- Nozzle arms can be removed/cleanedwithout tools; 4 mm passage and optimised droplet size for robust cleaning effect and high contamination tolerance.
- Vapour collection at inlet and outlet via DN 200 connections.
- Large filter surface and good accessibility for short cleaning and service times.
Key benefits
- Reproducible washing results thanks to customised nozzle/flow concept and moving upper nozzles.
- Low energy consumption thanks to insulated, welded mono housing; reduced noise.
- High system availability: robust stainless steel belt (like sample), durable design, quick cleaning.
- Brand components: LENZE drive, DANFOSS frequency inverter, EDUR pump(stainless steel), SIEMENS control cabinet components, EATON push-button.
