Changing room and social room equipment for German sausage producer

In the past, a new concept for changing rooms and social areas for employees was planned and realised in Germany for the leading meat and convenience processor in Europe.

Task

In terms of quality management and in order to ensure the best possible hygiene by the cleaning staff in the areas, it was the client's wish to do without as many obstacles as possible in the floor area in order to contribute to a better and, above all, faster cleaning of the floor and the corner areas.

In the planning phase of the premises, it had to be taken into account that the walls are made in such a way that reinforcements are available for corresponding angle profiles and fixations of the wall-hung lockers (cloakroom lockers).

In addition, when planning the social and changing areas, it had to be taken into account that the area for the common room and break room would be separated from the changing room area with the help of special fan cabinets as room dividers. These lockers should be both lockable and usable on both sides by each staff member as snack lockers during break times.

Project description and special features

  • Picture above: Benches made of food-safe, cadmium-free plastic were deliberately chosen because they are much lighter than benches made of steel. In addition, they have a smooth and therefore hygienic surface.
  • Picture above: For cleaning the floor, the plastic benches are faster and thus much easier to handle by the cleaning staff.
  • Picture above: The compartment lockers (snack lockers) used as room dividers separate the changing room from the common room (social room). These snack cabinets can be operated from both sides, and each compartment has a door that can be locked with a padlock. The employees in the changing room can thus put their snack, smartphone, etc. in their assigned compartment and secure them against theft. In the break room (recreation room) on the opposite side, the employees then simply take their utensils from the corresponding compartment.
  • Picture above: Laundry organisation has been simplified considerably by the use of laundry dispensing cabinets. Working hours and personnel costs are considerably reduced by individually lockable compartments. As a result, explicit issue times no longer had to be scheduled and the employees can always and constantly access the washed work clothes. Another advantage is that the front and rear doors allow the linen distribution cupboards to be used as practical room dividers without having to make major structural changes.
  • Picture above: Like the lockers and snack lockers, the linen distribution lockers are equipped with a slanted roof to prevent a possible storage area. In areas where the linen distribution cupboards function as room dividers and therefore could not be wall-mounted, they were designed with a base without feet.
  • Picture above: On the opposite side of the linen issue cabinet, in the changing room area, each employee has a separate compartment for their washed work clothes. This can be secured with a padlock.
  • Picture above: The lockers (cloakroom lockers) are fixed to special stainless steel angle profiles on the wall side and also screwed to the wall side and to each other accordingly to ensure sufficient stability. A decisive advantage of this type of fastening is that cleaning staff can carry out cleaning underneath the lockers much more easily and in a time-saving manner.
  • Picture above: Each staff member has a lockable compartment that can be secured by using a padlock. In addition, each compartment is equipped with a special ventilation concept. The interior has a hat shelf, a clothes rail with 3 sliding clothes hooks mounted underneath and a shoe tray in the floor area for dirty street shoes. Each compartment door also has a stainless steel holder in the lower area for slippers or shoes with a shelf for e.g. shower gel or shampoo.
  • Picture above: The black plastic shoe tray located in the floor area avoids soiling from street shoes and also collects water from footwear thanks to its specially raised design. The shoe tray is removable.
  • Picture above: The stainless steel holder for shoes or slippers, screwed to the steel doors of the interior compartments, with integrated shelf for e.g. shower gel or shampoo. The holder contributes to order in the locker and is appropriately placed due to its proximity to the ventilation openings. Moisture build-up in the interior is thus avoided.
