Lifting and tilting device in country butchery

The traditional country butchery of the Bruns family in Steinhausen/Bockhorn, Germany looks back on a history since 1881 and is already managed by the 5th generation of around 55 employees.

At the production site in Bockhorn (Germany), Mohn GmbH planned, designed and installed a stainless steel lifting and tilting device for the ergonomic loading of a vacuum filler with 120 litre cutter trolleys.

Task

As part of the integration of a Handtmann VF 610 vacuum filler, it was necessary to enable ergonomic loading via one container side of the 120 litre cutter carriage. In addition, the effort required for maintenance of the lifting and tilting device was to be minimised in order to avoid downtime and disruptions to production processes. The spatially confined conditions required a special arrangement of the standard trolley pick-up in order to save space.

Project description and special features

An expert employee from Mohn clarified the structural conditions on site. After taking into account the customer's wishes, the purpose of use and other important details such as spatial conditions, production processes, dimensions, load-bearing capacity, tilting height, filling material and filling type, a concept was developed and presented by means of a 3D visualisation in CAD format.

After the concept was presented, the decision was made in favour of a low-maintenance lifting and tipping device of the Highline type with a special pick-up fork offset by 90° for the 120-litre cutter trolley. The vacuum filler is filled via the left-hand side of the cutter wagon.

Due to the space available, a hygienic design control box mounted on the wall was required to control the system.

The so called "Marathon" stainless steel drive chain installed in the Highline version is characterised by its low maintenance requirements. It does not need to be permanently greased to ensure smooth continuous operation.

The expert assembly and commissioning of the lifting and tilting device by Mohn's in-house service personnel was completed with a special bottom flange fitting and hygienic design nuts to meet the highest hygiene standards.

Thanks to the customised solution from Mohn GmbH, county butchery Bruns benefits from efficient and ergonomic loading of its vacuum filler. The lifting and tilting device enables a smooth production process and minimises maintenance times to increase the productivity of the operation.
