Personnel hygiene station in the poultry slaughter house

For a German fresh chicken meat producer, with more than 1300 employees in 3-shift
operation, a personnel hygiene station was planned, delivered and mounted in 2011 in
the access area to the production facility for about 500 employees per shift.

Set-up of an exemplary personnel hygiene stations on an area of 74 square meters. Please click to enlarge the images.

Project description and special features

  • In the 74 square metre large location, the personnel hygiene station was positioned between changing rooms, social rooms and sanitary rooms in such a way that the employees are subject to forced guidance through the paths into the direction of the hygiene station in order to use the hygiene facilities prior to entering (again) the production facilities.
  • For hand cleaning using manual soap dispensers made of stainless steel, there are available to the employees 16 hand washing stations, divided into 4 individual stainless steel multiple hand washing basins which came with 2 installation feet that are additionally hygienically cladded towards the bottom. At this, each wash basin is contactless (sensorcontrolled) and executed with a rinse function against legionella contamination. With it, the connections for water and electricity have been installed from the ceiling.
  • The 4-track there and back way of the personnel ensures that no employee gets in somebody’s way in the hygiene process.
  • Hand drying takes place by means of infinite roll paper which is wall-mounted in stainless steel roller boxes in the immediate vicinity of the multiple hand washing basins.
  • In the further course of the hygiene station, there follow 2 double-track continuous sole cleaning plants with 2 hand disinfection units as well as vandalism-proof, electrically operated turnstiles of type Clean-Check 2000 DUO Highline.
  • On the relevant hygiene station, there has been installed an electronic time-recording system per track for the there and back way, which documents via chip card the work and break times prior to access or after leaving the production facility. The forced sequence of the hygiene station only begins after the chip card of the employee has been recorded by the scanner. So on the way to the facility, the hands, for example, must be initially disinfected in the outwit-safe hand disinfection automat before the electrical turnstile will release the passage.
  • Here the automatic sole cleaning via brush rolls takes place permanently and independently of the time recording. This ensures that the way back from production into the direction of the social and changing rooms can be performed via the same hygiene station. After the employee has held the chip card in front of the scanner of the time-recording system, a green signal lamp will report that the passage of the turnstile has been released for one person.
  • The hygiene station was equipped with special document trays made of stainless steel for storing work materials. During the hygiene procedure, above all during hand disinfection, this is a useful accessory.
  • Moreover, the optimised railing guidance of the hygiene station makes it impossible to bypass this facility.
  • In the hygiene station, immediately before entering the production facility, there are wall-mounted stainless steel dispensers within easy reach for various disposable items, such as hairnets, gloves, beard protection devices et cetera. At this, the stainless steel one-way dispensers “laser” the corresponding size indications in order to ensure a permanent marking and a faster process.
