Personnel hygiene station in the dairy indstry

Mohn GmbH planned and implemented personnel hygiene sluices for a family-owned company founded in 1926 and a leading producer of dairy products in Europe with around 3000 employees.

The company's product range includes various dairy products such as yoghurt mix products and cheese. Total turnover in 2019 was around 1 billion euros.

Forcibly guided hygiene area planned in the room - for personnel hygiene after the changing areas before access to production

Task

In the upper floor of an existing building of the company, the personnel hygiene was to be brought up to the state of the art in the course of an internal project. The background to this was, among other things, audit requirements for export.

In the course of this, a new canteen and a new social wing were also built.

In the access area to production coming from the direction of the changing rooms, a personnel hygiene station planned in the room was to be installed. In terms of quality management, the customer attached great importance to perfect hygiene and the highest possible safety.

Project description and special features

Staff flows and visitor access should be routed through individual hygiene areas where full, turnstile-based, forced hand and footwear sanitisation must take place.

It also had to be taken into account that all areas would be equipped with escape doors in combination with a magnetic locking system to enable unhindered escape in the event of an emergency or panic. The escape doors had to be designed in such a way that they could be coupled with the on-site fire alarm system in order to be able to release it centrally or locally.

The centrall hygiene area for the staff had to be planned and implemented after the changing rooms.

  • The implemented concept of the personnel hygiene area planned in the room provided for the employees to first pass the redundant entrance turnstiles with automatic 2-hand soap dispenser (type Soap-Control Highline) in forced sequence in the direction of passage to production. Depending on the number of staff, this can be done in two lanes in order to avoid staff congestion already at the entrance to the hygiene area.
The sensor control technology monitors the tamper-proof access and the application of soap to both hands.
  • After the staff have cleaned their hands at the hand-washing basins and dried them within 10 seconds by means of hygienic high-performance hand dryers (Jet-II), they pass through a two-lane, compact hygiene station, each with an integrated, self-sufficiently controlled 2-hand disinfection machine and a self-sufficiently controlled continuous sole cleaning machine of the type Clean-Check 1500 Highline.
  • This personnel hygiene station ensures that employees can only enter the production area with disinfected hands and cleaned and disinfected shoe soles. The functioning of the 2-hand disinfection device with integrated electrical turnstile only switches - analogue to the 2-hand soap machine - in the direction of production when both hands have been properly detected by the foolproof sensors and wetted with disinfectant by the full-cone jet nozzles..

At the same time, in the lower area of the compact hygiene station of the type Clean-Check 1500 Highline, the employees' soles are cleaned and disinfected by means of rotating brush rollers. The spring cup technology installed and developed by us enables savings in energy, water and chemicals compared to conventional sensor control when entering the facility.
  • The way back from production to the staff and changing rooms or toilets during breaks or at the end of shifts is directly through the personnel hygiene area via the compact, double-lane hygiene station of the type Clean-Check 1500 Highline. The electric turnstile is always released for the way back.

The pass-through sole cleaner is used here to prevent heavy dirt carry-over into the social/changing rooms or toilet areas.
  • Following this, the staff member finds the exit through the hygiene sluice in the direction of the social and changing rooms via an additional electrical turnstile for the separation of persons, which has also opened the passage for the way back here. For the way to the production area, however, the electric turnstile is blocked to prevent the automatic 2-hand soap dispensers with electric turnstiles at the sluice entrance from being "bypassed".
  • Special features of this personnel hygiene area were the consideration of 2 electromagnetically operated railing gates for the cleaning personnel on the entrance side and on the exit side.
  • The special feature of these electromagnetic railing gates is that they open automatically in an emergency because they are linked to the fire alarm system.
In addition, for easier handling of important documents of the quality assurance and the executive staff, document trays were provided at the turnstile passages.
