Measures to guide personnel in the industry are especially reasonable where there is a high number of personnel traffic and flows of movement must be controlled and optimised. Handrails and gates make it possible to guide personnel by creating regulated flows of movement in one or two directions as it occurs in shift operation, for example. Industrial handrails and gates from the area of Components are likewise suitable to guide personnel to necessary hygiene measures before entering the production site or also to secure entrance areas or narrow passages. Of course, handrails can also be used to block or separate certain areas. Forced guidance of personnel flows in industrial businesses can be sensible for various reasons. In the process, it must be seen to it that the specified paths, if necessary, can also be used as escape routes. There are special elements for this in order to fulfil this function. We offer the industrial handrails both with and without chicane. Whereby this expression is derived in a broader sense from the Germanised meaning to harass. So it shall be made almost impossible for the personnel to bypass hygiene devices, or in other words: To make it difficult to outwit them without carrying out the required hygiene procedure (e.g. Hand disinfection). Furthermore, this locking device (chicane) shall prevent a turning lock without a locked return path from simply being pulled back by hand so that the employee can squeeze through due to the gained free space. So, for example, handrails with two laterally attached brackets (chicanes) are often used with our access control devices (entrance control devices) such as hand disinfection units with turnstile (turning lock) or hand soap dispensers with turnstile. These handrails with chicane can therefore be mainly found for personnel guidance or as barriers in hygiene stations.
Handrail without chicane
Handrails without chicane are offered in three different versions. They can be equipped with a horizontal strut (knee strap) or with a vertical strut as well as with a splash guard sheet. All handrails without chicane are available in various dimensions and are manufactured in sturdy pipe profile design made of stainless steel.
Handrail with chicane
In the category of handrails with chicane, the handrail model type G-S in two dimensions as well as in the versions with knee strap, vertical struts or splash guard sheet offers optimal solutions for forced guidance of personnel flows at turnstiles or as barriers. With it, the chicanes effectively prevent the access control devices from being bypassed.
Magnetic handrail gate
Depending on the relevant version, the magnetic handrail gate is delivered together with all corresponding wall fittings, hinges, connections and posts and is offered in three gate clear dimensions with different types of assembly each. Depending on the selected gate clear dimension, they can also serve as escape route for the respectively stated number of persons. Implementation of special sizes is individually possible.
Handrail gate
The handrail gate type GT is available in three gate clear dimensions with various assembly or hinge types and by means of an anti-panic locking system can also serve as an escape route gate. The clear passage width acc. to ASR A2.3 can comprise up to 200 persons. Moreover, the cleanly welded pipe profile construction allows for easy and hygienic cleaning. Special sizes can be realized.
Magnetic wing gate
The magnetic wing gate type MFT is a single-wing gate with magnetic locking. The design is based on a pipe profile with a vertical strut. The magnetic wing gate is offered in six different sizes (gate clear dimensions). The opening direction is either right or left and the gate does without knob or handle, with some versions being suitable for escape routes.
Wing gate (extendable)
Extendable wing gates consist of a standing post and the wing mounted to it. The wings or wing gates are made of cleanly welded pipe profile construction and extendable in order to be able to adjust them custom-fit to the respective passage width (flexible clear passage widths 800 to 1,200 mm). After unlocking, the extendable wing gates can be used in both directions and thus escape-route suitable according to ASR A2.3.

In the best case, the installation of handrails and gates is taken into consideration and designed right away during the basic planning of a hygiene station. GUIDELINES AND CONSIDERATION OF ESCAPE ROUTES
When dimensioning door, corridor and stair widths, all spaces and specially marked traffic routes in rooms required for the escape and leading to the escape route have to be taken into consideration.
The Workplace Provision (ASR) substantiates the requirements of the Workplace Ordinance so that in case of danger the employees can immediately get to safety and can be quickly rescued. The minimum width of the escape routes is measured on the maximum number of persons using the escape route in case of need and results from the following table:
